Getting Ready for Summer!

Well, this was a busy, busy week at school. We had all of the end-of-year parties--basically a mini version of field day. Its pretty cool to have so many outstanding parent volunteers at school. They give so much extra time and attention so that our kiddos can have some pretty cool things! However, I am not sure what to anticipate from next week....basically 4 days of keeping 460ish kids (and teachers...) sane!
Looking back on my first year as an AP, I can say it was a pretty productive year! I really do enjoy my job--each day holds new lessons learned, accomplishments, and learning moments. I work with a fabulous staff-I've really enjoyed getting to know them. I definitely think I will be better prepared what comes my way next year-and a little more confident, too. My one big goal is to keep my office a little more organized!

On the baby front, still feeling great. I am so thankful that this has been such a low-key, easy pregnancy so far. Really, I haven't had too many strange food cravings or aversions. I do tend to crave salty more often than sweet...but thats on par with my normal likes. I am excited for when I can feel our little mini Marx start to move!
Baxter wanted to be in the pic....I guess he wants to remind everyone that for 6 more months or so he is still the only child! Haha, he has been like glue to me, pretty much always right by my side (however, this is pretty normal for him!) I wonder what his reaction to the baby will be. I think he will end up sleeping in the nursery, keeping "guard." I can also picture our little one crawling and climbing all over him, and Bax just laying there, loving the additional attention!

Exciting Changes!

Well, I have decided I am going to try to be more consistant about keeping up my blog...especially now that Baby Marx is on the way! I am 13 weeks...and just barely starting to show! I can no longer suck it in...so I guess that means its the baby :)

We will find out if its a boy or girl on July 12th....can't wait to decide how to decorate the nursery!! I have several ideas...but they are all pretty gender specific. I do know that I am going to use green as the base color...
Here is a sonogram taken at 8 weeks:

Kinda looks like a little gummy bear right now! I can't wait to see the 20 week sono to see how much our little one has changed :)

Holidays

I am so excited about this upcoming Christmas Season! All of the Owen family (plus Zac) and all of the Marx family will be in Dallas this Christmas! I love my family and my in-laws, so I am really looking forward to spending time with them all!! We will be hosting Christmas Eve at our house this year....
Here is a random selection of past Christmases...

Time To Catch Up!

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I had posted on my blog!! Lets see, this fall has gone by so quickly! I finished our kitchen remodeling project, and I LOVE how it turned out:

Projects

So, I have been wanting to get new kitchen knobs for a while--to start updating it. I know it will be a while before we do the counters and backsplash, so I wanted to do a little something. Instead of buying like 35 knobs (yeah-our kitchen has way too many!) I decided to try painting them...here was my tester:
So, I repainted all of them. I used a "hammered finish" spray paint, and I am really pleased with the look!

Now I just need to figure out what I want to do about the green tile backsplash. Any suggstions?

Next project to do...

I am going to do a little sewing/crafting this holiday weekend, since I have a bit of time. I saw these cute candle/trinket holders at anthropologie the other weekend:
I think they should be pretty easy to make. Although, I am not sure where to put them! I am thinking of doing something similar to put on the backyard deck...I want to spruce it up a bit....now I am on the lookout for little glass jars/votive holders.
Brandon's newest hobby/pastime is fishing and hunting. If anyone ever wants a hunting partner, please call Brandon!!
Here are a few recent pics of his catches.

Brandon shot a dove. He dressed it (is that the proper terminology?!) and grilled the breast meat, wrapped in bacon. It was actually really tasty! Granted, one dove offered enough meat for 2 little appitizer sized bites. However, I am pleased to know that I actually liked it! Plus, I know Brandon enjoys eating what he has caught/hunted.

Projects

So I realized I never posted the finished bedding/paint job in my craft room...so here it is!
